Toyota built a reputation on engines that hit 200,000 miles without complaint, and most Toyota owners we see in New Braunfels are trying to keep that streak going. From the Camry on the road since the late 80s through today's hybrids and the 4Runner that refuses to depreciate, Toyota repair is mostly preventive maintenance done right. We service Toyota at Frank's Automotive with the same diagnostic equipment and factory-spec procedures as the dealership — without the dealer-rate labor.

Common Toyota issues we see

Toyotas are reliable, but no vehicle is bulletproof. The patterns we see:

  • Water pump leaks on V6 platforms (3MZ-FE, 2GR-FE, others) — coolant residue at the front of the engine, sometimes with a sweet smell. Often bundled with the timing belt or chain service
  • Valve cover gaskets start to leak around 100,000-120,000 miles; oil burns off the exhaust and creates the smell people often mistake for engine failure
  • Engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor failures throw P0125 codes
  • Front lower control-arm bushings on Camry / RAV4 generation
  • Hybrid 12-volt battery failure (separate from the high-voltage traction battery) — usually around 5 years, causes no-start or weird electrical behavior

What we offer for Toyota owners

  • All scheduled maintenance to Toyota's manufacturer specs
  • OEM or OEM-equivalent parts (Toyota and Lexus share much of the supply chain)
  • Hybrid system diagnostics and 12V battery service
  • Timing belt and water pump service (bundled when applicable)
  • Brake repair, transmission service, and oil changes
  • Collision and auto body work with OEM-matched paint

Why us vs. the dealership

Our ASE Certified techs use the same diagnostic tools as the dealer (Bosch scan tool + Toyota-specific software), parts come from quality OEM-equivalent suppliers, and the labor rate is independent-shop, not stealership. The work is covered by our 24-month / 24,000-mile warranty, honored nationwide through Tech-Net.

Toyota built it to last 250,000 miles. We're happy to help you get there. Request an appointment or call (830) 627-3939.
