Infiniti is Nissan's luxury division — the G/Q-series sedans (G35, G37, Q50, Q60), the QX SUVs (QX50, QX60, QX80), and the FX/QX70 share platforms and parts catalogs with their Nissan counterparts. The VQ-series V6 (3.5L / 3.7L) is the most common drivetrain we see, and it has its own service profile, along with the platform-specific issues Nissan-built vehicles bring with them. Common Infiniti issues we see

Infiniti patterns overlap with Nissan plus some luxury-tech items:

  • VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) actuator issues on VQ37VHR (G37, Q50, Q60, FX37) — engine misfire, rough running, sometimes a metallic noise
  • Timing chain stretch on VQ37 engines at high mileage
  • CVT transmission issues on Q50, QX50, QX60 (where CVT-equipped) — same patterns as Nissan: shudder, hesitation, fluid service is critical
  • VQ-series oil consumption on some years — worth documenting if you're seeing it
  • Catalytic converter failures (similar pattern to Altima 2.5L on certain Infiniti models with shared engines)
  • Air suspension on FX / QX70 / QX80 — compressor or air-spring failure
  • InfinitiConnect / electronics glitches — battery drain from telematics, infotainment system reboots
